The Killers
The Killers’ single, Human, from their new album Day & Age reminds me more of the band from Hot Fuss than their previous albums, which is definitely a good thing. The song has a strong, driving beat that propels it along, but it is certainly more than just a good beat. Human, and the album as a whole, conveys a glam rock feel that seemed to have dissipated since The Killers beginning. The theme of finding yourself explored in Human is hardly something novel, and the video is a little heavy handed with the symbolism as they wander through the desert. The video, however, does continue the reemergence of The Killers’ glam element with a feathered suit and a tiger that reappears throughout. In a way the video reminded me a Vegas show, which is appropriate considering this is where the band is from. Overall, I enjoyed Human and Day & Age as a whole, though Hot Fuss is still my hands down favorite Killers album. Hopefully they will continue moving forward along this same path with their next album.
